Let me preface this by saying this is a very well written book. That being said. I don't know how I finished it. I bought this after reading all kinds of rave reviews about it and I can honestly say......I don't get it. This book was not for me and I can't explain why without ruining the story for others so....

This is a story about a quiet, shy woman who meets and falls in love with a rock star. She wastes 15 years of her life on a man who cannot make a real commitment and breaks her heart three different times, one by sneaking off in the middle of the night with another woman. She keeps taking him back because he apologizes and says he truly loves only her. She finally has enough and leaves him for good. She rebuilds her life and meets a wonderful man who loves her and marries her. Together they have a beautiful daughter and a wonderful life together until she learns she has a terminal illness. She then asks this wonderful, supportive man to contact her first love because she wants him there. He does this and the rock star returns. She then divorces her husband and marries this guy because he "finally" is ready to commit. WTF!!!!! I don't like either of these self-centered people. I don't know what the next two books could possibly be about and I don't really care. I won't be reading any more of this series. I would however read this author again.

I don't know how I can recover. I'll admit going into this book I wasn't sure because I'm personally not a fan of third person/narration . . . but that all changed with this book. This author could have written in any form and this story would still reach you. Andy . . . he's human. That's all there is to it. He's not malicious, he's not pure. He loves thought.
Bethy . . . this is one heroine that kept giving. Her choices, her love . . . they are everlasting. This story encompasses so much. A love affair spanned over time, one you feel the grit, failure, redemption. I can't do spoilers and I don't know how to write a review for this without them.
I sobbed the last 2 hours reading this book, good and ugly tears. It's a journey, a life exploration, a heart crushing and heart healing story.
ROCK AND ROLL NEVER FORGETS was not what I expected. SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK & ROLL was what I automatically think of when I see a book about a rock star! I figured it will have lots of sexy times in it. While this one does have sexy times in it... it is not written out in detail. More like we know it happens but we don't get all the specifics. I’m fine either way with those scenes being in a book but I know some readers prefer those smokin' hot, melt your kindle type of scenes.

Here is what the story is about… an ordinary woman and a rockstar who fall in love and we read about their relationship that spans twenty plus years. They face many trials and tribulations throughout their time together. Their path to love was marred by many things but one major thing was the media. The freedom to have a private life was not plausible with a rockstar. Their relationship was constantly on display for the public. More than anything Beth, the heroine, longed to have a private life with her rockstar, Andy. To the best of his abilities he tried to shield her from the overall media circus that followed his every move.

One strong message that the reader gains while reading this book was

REGRET! Looking back and wishing we could have done something differently is human nature and something that Andy and Beth contemplate. One thing this couple gains is an understanding that sometimes hindsight comes too late but to make the most of their future together.

I’m not going to lie this story made my stomach hurt. Not until the last 20% did I have that sick feeling in my gut and the tears flowing from my eyes. When my husband came home he knew the second he looked at me that I had been crying. I’ve been told no more crying books for awhile since lately it feels like all I’ve been doing is drowning in my tears.

One thing about this book that should be mentioned is the style it was written in. I don’t even know if this style has a name but it was like a combo of an autobiography, journal, and third person all mashed together. It was interesting and made me pay attention. It reminds me of when I meet someone and they have a heavy accent and I have to really pay attention so I can understand what they are saying. It was that way this book… since I’m not use to ‘whatever’ this style of writing is I focused in on the book to make sure I really got all that was happening.

Rock and Roll Never Forgets is the emotional tale of rock icon Andy Stevens and the love of his life Bethy. The saga spans over twenty years and takes the reader on an unforgettable journey of love, betrayal, heartache and eventually forgiveness. Not since reading Carnage by Leslie Jones has a book stirred up this much emotion in me.

Most of the story is told by narration with little dialogue which I found to be odd at first but I quickly got used to it and found it to be a refreshing change. This is not your typical Rock Star Romance filled with constant sex and drugs but on the contrary is quite tame. Andy for the most part doesn’t come across as the stereotypical rock star which is another thing I found to be refreshing.

The one issue I had with the story was the way Beth handled the circumstances at the end although I guess I can understand why she did what she did. That being said, I didn’t feel that it took anything away from the story. Highly recommend!
